Eileen Benvegnu Bio

​Ms. Benvegnu is a performer of both lyric and coloratura roles, and has sung lead roles in Houston and university theater productions of Euridice, Il Trionfo del Tempo, Dido and Aeneas, Madame Herz in Impresario, Impresario, Olympia from Tales of Hoffman, Adele from Die Fledermaus,  Blondchen from Abduction from the Seraglio and Frasquita from Carmen, both at Opera in the Heights.  Ms. Benvegnu has also frequently performed the role of Queen of the Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte), including an international performance with the Mittelsachsiches Theater in Freiberg, Germany. International experience has included lead coloratura roles with the Mittelsachsiches Theater in Freiberg, Germany and the Almafi Musical Festival in Italy.  Ms. Benvegnu played the role of Jenny from Roman Fever during the inaugural season of Lone Star Lyric Theater Festival.  Ms Benvegnu has performed with Ars Lyrica, Opera in the Heights, Rienzi Fine Art Series, Lone Star Lyric Theater Festival, and Opera Vista's Annual Music Festival. 

 

As a concert soloist, Ms. Benvegnu made her debut with The Houston Symphony, singing Der Hölle Rache from Die Zauberflöte for Mozart’s 250th Anniversary Concerts, and has performed as a soloist for The Woodlands Symphony, Texas Medical Center Orchestra, Texas Master Chorale, The Downers Grove Chorale, The  Kingwood Chorale,  The Centrum for Performing Arts Center, and the Houston-Galveston Diocesan Choir.  Ms. Benvegnu made her debut at The Wortham Theater as the soprano soloist in Carmina Burana.

Ms. Benvegnu cherishes the opportunity to worship God and use her voice in praise.  Her near-death experience in 2011 provided her an opportunity to witness to God's incredible love for each of us. Ms Benvegnu has performed as a Schola singer for the Co-Cathedral and many other churches of many denominations around Houston and across the country.

 

Up until Katherine Ciesinski’s move to the Eastman School of Music, Ms. Benvegnu studied voice with Katherine and coaches with Roger Keele. Ms. Benvegnu maintains a private voice studio in addition to contracting her services as a licensed physical therapist.
